Welcome everyone.<3

This is an ice breaker post! The first proper one. I'm Elisabeth and it's January and currently I'm nowhere near Greece. I also haven't blogged in over ten years, so i'm excited to share this way again, whatever that may be.

Anyways, I was in Greece with my boyfriend's family not too long ago and the pictures I took with my Olympus pocket digi camera bring me back. Here are some - you can click each one open for a closer look.

Our curiosity towards the world grows stronger the more diversely we see it, doesn't it?

I really found magic in portrait photography on our last trip to Crete - seeing these interesting people on the streets, giving them a smile and raising my camera in an asking motion "okay if I take your picture?", giving them a genuine compliment. Sometimes I don't have time to ask to capture the moment. But I couldn't resist the odd chances we could have by walking down whatever little street. Random encounters, real people. It makes me wish I could speak every language in the world to connect. In my favorite pictures the gentleman with a hat and vitiligo had such boyish energy and gentle eyes, and the grandpa eating ice cream with a huge scar on his cheek definitely had stories to tell.

My boyfriend is a photographer, so naturally we carry cameras with us wherever we go. But this added layer of authenticity, life, randomness and expressions of people made photography that much more interesting.

We're planning on a trip to Northern Italy soon and I can't wait for the walks we'll take there and what we'll encounter.

Next time we'll leave the subjects our contact information so they can get in touch later and see themselves through our lenses, which adds to the meaning photography can generate. It is them that make the photos, after all.
